Attempting to PvP – Warlock Style!

After some time out of the PvP scene – I haven’t PvP’d on a “serious” note since The Burning Crusade Arena Seasons 1 and 2 – I’ve decided to jump back in with my Warlock, Wabby.

After a bit of scouting about around various forums and blogs I’ve settled on an Affliction Spec, any suggestions or feedback would be greatly appreciated.

To kick things off, and to get a basic feel for things again, I’ve started hitting the Battlegrounds and as I’m pretty much starting from scratch I’m eating dirt.. a lot! Just as I remember in TBC, Rogues are still a major pain in the ass as a Warlock. Although this might be down to a serious lack of resilience at my end and of a trinket to break CC.  I am pleased to note that my common sense doesn’t seem to have left me as I’m still comfortable CC’ing more than one target while focusing my DPS on Healers.

Battlegrounds on a whole haven’t really changed much it would appear, much like Warcraft’s style of PvP I guess. Sadly the majority of people that I’ve come across still fall into the mass zerg tactics where they can’t seem to get their heads around something so simple as solid 3 base defence in Arathi Basin… sigh.

Rated Battlegrounds are going to be something totally new to me, I love the idea of them but I would imagine finding the right team to be a real challenge. I guess at the end of the day it’s like finding the right guild. I’m unsure as to whether it’s worth trying to join up with a Rated Battleground Team, but I would love to get back into the Arena!

On a more character driven note, my biggest issue at the moment has come from gearing up. Different resources seem to recommend buying items in different order, with the major headache being the decision to buy go for the first set bonus or picking up the trinket. I decided to aim for the set bonus and have grabbed the shoulders, next up will be the robe followed swiftly by the trinket. I guess I’ll see over time as to if it was a good idea or not.

A common joke on twitter of late seems to be about the sheer lack of people still playing Warlocks, so if anyone knows of any knowledgeable Warlocks who actively PvP (or PvE) I’d be more than grateful if you could pass on this post to them as I’m sure there’s a ton of stuff I could learn.
